Biography
Nevin specialises in commercial litigation, alternative dispute resolution and, in particular, insurance law. He has over 19 years' experience providing strategic insurance related legal advice to his clients. He specialises in advising insurance companies, government bodies and private companies.
His areas of expertise includes claims and claims management, professional indemnity, policy drafting and interpretation. He also provides strategic interpretation advice and appears for public sector clients before the Courts.
He recently acted for a professional indemnity insurer in the largest class action in the Federal Court arising out of a dispute in the ACT. He also worked on the project to create Comcover, the Federal Government self managed insurance scheme.
Nevin also acts primarily for professional indemnity insurers protecting the interests of lawyers and doctors. His work in this area includes not only claims handling but also advice work and policy drafting and interpretation.
His adopts alternative dispute resolution techniques and has successfully resolved many commercial litigation matters in this way.
He is a Fellow of the Australian Insurance Institute.
