Biography
Nick is a partner in our Commercial Disputes practice specialising in Insolvency and Reconstruction. He joined the Melbourne office in 2000 and has provided advice and managed litigation on a wide range of matters on behalf of lenders, insolvency practitioners, directors, debtors and creditors of insolvent companies.
Nick had a leading role acting for ANZ in connection with the collapse of Opes Prime Stockbroking, advising on the bank's exposure under securities lending agreements and acting for the bank defending claims instituted by investors in various Australian jurisdictions. He is currently advising the receivers and managers of Great Southern.
He regularly assists members of our Corporate Group manage insolvency and litigation risk in corporate transactions, and has specialised in contested capital restructures and schemes of arrangement. Nick graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Law (distinction) from the University of Oxford in 2005, having studied the Law of Restitution, Corporate Insolvency Law, and Global Comparative Banking & Finance Law. He currently lectures in the Masters in Law Program at the University of Melbourne in Corporate Insolvency and Reconstruction.
