Biography
Martin has over 20 years' experience as a corporate lawyer specialising in major corporate transactions.
Martin is well known in Australia as a leading Private Equity Lawyer. He has led Minter Ellison teams on numerous MBOs, secondary buy-outs, dual-track exit transactions, and advised on the first successful hostile Public to Private take over bid in Australia by a Private Equity fund, Affinity Equity Partners' successful takeover of footwear and clothing retailer, Colorado Group.
Martin has also variously either led, co-led or participated in, Minter Ellison teams, and provided the corporate law advice on numerous major projects and transactions, including in relation to a number of airports, property developments and a number of pipeline transactions in Australia.
Martin has extensive experience advising financial investors and managed funds on their investments in major projects, as well as advising principal contractors on their equity participation.
He has also advised numerous corporates, Australian, UK and US companies on cross-border transactions, including acquisitions of Australian groups and restructures and divestments of non-core businesses.
Martin's recent experience on major acquisitions includes advising the consortium of GIC Special Investments (the Singapore Government sovereign wealth fund) and the Ironbridge and Tasman Capital private equity funds, on their acquisition of fleet vehicle business, 'FleetPartners', from Citigroup.
He has also recently advised Japan's largest residential builder, Tokyo-listed Sekisui House Limited, on its joint venture arrangements with ASX-listed property developer, Payce Consolidated, and property development acquisitions Homebush Bay in New South Wales and Ripley Valley in Queensland.
