Biography
Gillian heads the Finance practice in Queensland and her clients include major and regional banks and government agencies. Her extensive corporate and project experience (acting for lenders and borrowers) particularly in construction financing and in financing resources projects spans more than 20 years. She has also advised banks involved in major property and tourism developments. This expertise has recently been recognised by ALB Guide (2009), where she received an individual 'leading lawyer' ranking for banking and finance receiving praise from clients for her work on documenting financial transactions for banks and corporates. Gillian has particular expertise in the area of public sector financing and has advised a range of government agencies on financing for infrastructure and resources projects.
Gillian was admitted to the Minter Ellison partnership in 1994 and served as Chairman of the Firm from July 2006 until June 2009. During this period Minter Ellison increased its strategic-level work for Top 100 clients, achieved record growth, and was recognised for it's commitment to corporate social responsibility. Gillian is currently a member of the Capital Markets Board of Queensland Treasury Corporation and Chairman of it's Risk Management Committee. Gillian is also a Director of DBCT Holdings Pty Ltd (holder of the Queensland Government's interest in the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal).
