Biography
Ian is recognised as one of the leading legal advisers to the construction, engineering and project development industries in Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific region.
Based in Hong Kong for 20 years, his principal areas of practice include major construction projects, including project documentation and commercial contracts, advice on contractual issues and strategies for construction projects, and dispute management and resolution, including litigation and, arbitration and mediation. He has also acted for the liquidators on some of the region's largest construction insolvencies.
Ian is a member of the Construction Industry Council Procurement Committee and a former chairman of the Society of Construction Law Hong Kong. He is an accredited mediator with HKIAC.
Recognised as a leading lawyer for construction in Hong Kong by the Asia Pacific Legal 500 2008/2009, Ian was cited as a lawyer who "adds value with his knowledge of the particular client and sector" and provides "very good service". He is also named a leading construction lawyer in both Hong Kong and China by Chambers Asia 2009 and recommended for construction in Hong Kong and China in the latest edition of PLC Which Lawyer.
Ian is leading Minter Ellison's initiative on environmentally conscious and green building matters in Asia, and is also acknowledged as an experienced adviser on environmental law issues, especially EIA processes.
